PRESENTATION OF THE SESSION

At a time when the peoples of the world aspire to better governance and when it is established that the involvement of local actors is the sine qua non of good local governance, it is important that the Traditional Authorities of Africa, which are by the tradition of the Continent the first manifestation of the authorities, take their full part in the national construction. However, we are still far from that, hence the need to explore all avenues in order to reverse this order of things The aim will be to listen to one representative per sub-region of Africa talk about the involvement of traditional authorities in the development and governance of cities and territories in that sub-region. A debate, with an exchange of experiences, will follow to imagine and propose a type of relationship and a mode of collaboration to be established between the different types of local authorities and actors, including traditional authorities, public administration, municipal or communal authorities.
