PRESENTATION OF THE SESSION

The Africities Summit should be a key moment in the reflection on migration governance at the local level and enable representative organisations of local and regional governments, such as UCLG and UCLG Africa, to be interlocutors with the international community and actors and partners for the implementation of the Global Compact. The aim of the Africities Migration Day is to prepare the contribution of Africa's local and regional authorities to the migration week scheduled to take place in Marrakech from 5 to 11 December 2018. It will provide an opportunity to address the various challenges facing Africa and its local and regional authorities in managing migration flows and their consequences, and to identify strategies, principles of action and priorities for African local and regional authorities to provide a decisive contribution to the negotiation of the Global Compact on Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration. The Africities Migration Day includes:
  • In the afternoon: workshops on Dialogue and Cooperation on experiences and practices in migration management at the level of cities and territories
