PRESENTATION OF THE SESSION
Africa is a mobile first continent, bridging an important infrastructure gap with the rest of the world. But for the last years, a new generation of software interfaces is growing enabling ecosystems to enter in an deeper digital society, with that we call APIs; as Applications Programming Interfaces. APIs are a huge opportunity for Africa and African cities to enter before others in the programmable economy thanks to a digital first culture.
In this session we will present the societal and business impacts of Open APIs to create sustainable innovative ecosystems. Either on the smart cities side, either of the business side, APIs have high impacts on delivering digital services and still ensuring self-service access for developers communities to automously develop digital, mobile and cognitive applications.
We will show examples of API projects worldwide, either from the public sector either from the private sector and beginning african initiatives involving APIs.
