PRESENTATION OF THE SESSION

In 2017 international tourist arrivals in the world were 1.322 million (data UNWTO). It is the first time in history that this mobility happens and concentrates such a multiculturality on sites. World Heritage Sites have the opportunity and the responsibility to create opportunities of encounter, therefore of dialogue for a territorial sustainable development. The Foundation Life Beyond Tourism is considering to reinterpret the UNESCO Convention 1972 to think and act for the protection, fruition and enhancement of the World Heritage. This orientation will lead to a new commercial offer with another ethic, for the sustainable growth of the international community in peaceful coexistence. Life Beyond Tourism, besides a scientific bibliography and glossary, combines a set of practical tools: a model and its manual for its practical implementation on the territories, an annual educational program, good practices implemented in Florence. Moreover, the innovative 'Quality Certification for Dialogue among Cultures (DTC-LBT: 2018)' conceived for businesses, institutions and public administration that allows them to analyse their work, set objectives and measure their results, to add the opportunity of dialogue among cultures in their commercial product in complete transparency.
